Enchanted Circle Is Best Underrated Scenic Drive In New Mexico

Driving in New Mexico isn’t just the means by which you get from point A to point B; it’s one of the best ways to see all of the beauty our state has to offer. This scenic drive in Northern New Mexico will take you in a loop throughout some of the Land of Enchantment’s most charming towns and landscapes. Get the camera ready, because this underrated drive is so worth capturing.

This lovely drive through the Land of Enchantment is just as magical as the name sounds: Enchanted Circle.

This scenic route runs in a circle through the Carson National Forest, and around beautiful towns like Taos, Red River, and Questa. There's no better way to see all of the different landscapes that Northern New Mexico has to offer.

The 83-mile loop is home to various mountains, valleys, mesa, and some of Northern New Mexico's most picturesque towns. You'll find so much to do and see that you might not have without taking this beautiful drive.

In the fall, the aspen trees illuminate with a bright yellow burst of color, making this the perfect time of year to drive on the Enchanted Circle.

On this underrated drive, you'll even find one of our state's most interesting ghost towns: Elizabethtown. It's said that the infamous serial killer Charles Kennedy hid out at Elizabethtown for some time, and lured people into his cabin.

Along this magnificent highway, you'll also find many quaint shops to stop at, natural recreation areas, and plenty of perfect photo opps.

The Enchanted Circle might be underappreciated, but those who have driven it will know it's one of the most gorgeous drives in all of New Mexico.
