What are the best man-made attractions in New Mexico?

One of the best man-made attractions in New Mexico is easily the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Located near Taos, this suspension bridge is the second-tallest in the nation. The bridge was built in 1965 and construction actually began before the funds were even secured to build a road on the other side. As a result of this bold move, the marvel of engineering was nicknamed "The Bridge to Nowhere." It towers 650 feet above the ground — don't look down if you cross it!

Are there any castles in New Mexico?

There are, in fact, castles in New Mexico. One of the most incredible is Montezuma Castle at United World College. Nestled in the small town of Montezuma, this gorgeous building originally served as a hot springs resort with 400 luxury hotel rooms when it first opened in 1886. After coming under new management several times, it's now an international boarding school that looks like something straight out of England. Another of our favorite castles in New Mexico is the quirky Blue Castle Automotive in Albuquerque. While not an actual castle, this auto repair shop is known for giving directions to lost tourists.

What are the most beautiful churches in New Mexico?

Of all the most beautiful churches in New Mexico, none quite compare to El Santuario de Chimayó. Nestled in the sleepy little town of Chimayó, this Spanish colonial-style church is renowned for its alleged healing powers. Inside the church, there is a hole in the floor — known as "el Pocito" that is filled with soil that many believe contains healing powers. Tens of thousands of people visit the church every year to gather some of the dirt and take it home to aid in physical, mental, and/or spiritual healing. You'll even see crutches on the walls left behind by people whose physical ailments were reportedly cured after visiting El Santuario de Chimayó. Whether or not you believe in these healing powers, the church is worth visiting simply because of its striking beauty.
