With several warmer days behind us and even better weather to look forward to, I’ve covered a variety of outdoor activities over the last few weeks. There was an alpaca ranch in Hackettstown, a pick-your-own berry farm in Medford, and all sorts of fun in one of New Jersey’s best beach towns, among others. Today, I have something a little different for you…an enchanting herb farm.
From Acanthus to Zatar, their selection spans from the familiar to the exotic. There are nearly 1,900 varieties of plants and herbs from around the world!
Their butterfly, herb, medicinal, perennial, and rock gardens have been featured in national magazines and books. Their brick-pathed formal herb garden boasts a knot garden, as well as a display of 35 basils, 73 lavenders, 46 rosemarys, 87 thymes, and 77 scented-leaf geranium varieties. Wow!
Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, play with their children on the swings, visit the farm animals, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the garden paths, or just relax and enjoy the beauty of the day.
You'll definitely want to check out the gift shop. You'll find "a wonderful assortment of dried flowers, wreaths, statuary, books, essential oils, hard-to-find potpourri supplies and unusual gifts for all ages."
This lesser-known New Jersey destination is truly heaven scent! If you'd like to do more than shop and stroll, visit for a workshop or open house. There's a lot to learn...
You can find Well-Sweep Herb Farm at 205 Mount Bethel Road, Port Murray. The hours are 9-5, Monday-Saturday, and 11-4 on Sunday. For more information and upcoming events, visit their website here.
