This Canopy Tour In New Jersey Is The Perfect Way To See The Fall Colors Like Never Before
What are your plans this weekend? If you’re free, you might want to check out Zoom Ziplines at Mountain Creek. While the website does mention that they’re open all year, the last zip tours of the season go out this weekend. If you miss out, no worries, they also offer winter ziplining starting December 10th, though visiting now makes for an unforgettable autumn adventure.
Fall comes first in Sussex County, New Jersey.
Before leaves start to turn in the rest of the state (typically from mid to late October), colors come out by the end of September in Sussex County. This is due, in part, to higher elevations, and its more northern location. So, right now, you can enjoy quite a show.
Ziplining through the trees is a unique way to enjoy the foliage.
Zoom ziplines offers a guided tour that takes you over the river (okay, lake) and through the woods, along a series of ziplines. Ziplines range from 200 to 1,500 feet in length. Tours last about two hours and are appropriate for adventurers at least 4 feet tall and between 60-270 lbs.
This activity is the perfect mix of stunning scenery and heart pounding thrill.
But it's not too scary! I'm a big ziplining fan, though I'm terrified of roller coasters. You zip fast enough to feel a breeze, but not so fast that it will make you scream, and there are no sudden drops. While zipping itself is easy (and safe), you'll need to be fit enough to walk a bit through the woods, over bridges, between ziplines.
It's a perfect fall activity for family fun, or a day out with friends.
Tours depart on the hour or half hour on both Saturday and Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.. You'll want to call to confirm availability at: 973-827-2000. Call right away, or be willing to wait until winter to zip.
This is an unforgettable experience that almost anyone can enjoy. Still, ziplining just might not be your thing. If that’s the case, no worries! Check out these relaxing spots to view fall foliage in the Garden State:
