With the wide-ranging beaches of the Jersey Shore, the ups and downs of the Appalachian Mountains, and the grassy green fields, New Jersey can easily compete for the title of “prettiest state in America,” even if others don’t give it the credit it so deserves. In fact, a lot of people don’t realize how good the hiking is in New Jersey. There are mountain climbs that leave you gasping for air, more moderate forest hikes, and even plenty of easy ones that propel you toward an amazing view.

File the Hidden Lake Trail, located near Manchester Township, under the latter. The Hidden Lake Trail is short and sweet — the appeal isn’t in conquering a climb, it’s in basking in the view of the stunningly gorgeous lake you reach on the trail. With its vibrant color and peaceful surroundings, it’s a destination worth hiking to.

The trail is deemed good for all skill levels and accessible all year-round. Just be wary — sometimes it can get a bit wet and muddy if it’s been rainy weather recently. For more information about this trail check out the AllTrails website.
