The Red Mill got its start producing wood, grist, and talc in the early 1800s - and due to the dangerous nature of the work, several workers perished in the building's enclaves, machinery, and grounds.
Now, the Mill is quite haunted. Not only do the spirits of former workers haunt the site, causing unexplained sounds and sites, but there's a frequent appearance of a man dressed in colonial garb - almost like a period actor, but not employed or welcomed by the museum itself.
In the autumn, the Mill offers spooky tours. They're so freaky that they're not recommended for children! When you find yourself in the middle of a real ghost encounter during a haunted tour of the Red Mill, you'll quickly understand why.
Fall at the Red Mill is the best time to visit – not only will you find gorgeous foliage, but you can participate in the many spooky, seasonal events! There are truly terrifying haunted tours, family-friendly hayride tours, live entertainment, behind-the-scenes tours, and so much more.
Have you ever seen a spirit at any of the most haunted places in New Jersey? We’d love to hear your tales!
