New Jersey is mainly known for its coveted ocean beaches, but there’s far more to the Garden State than its shores. And while we have some pretty challenging waterfall hikes, our state’s tallest waterfall is easily accessible from the parking lot. If you have yet to spend time at Buttermilk Falls, we’ll give you a few good reasons to explore the area.

This is one of the most popular waterfalls in the state, mainly because it's easy to reach.

Walk around the recreation area and you'll also see a sturdy (but sometimes slippery) observation deck that will allow you to look from another angle.

The entire area is definitely worth exploring -- it's worth taking it all in from the top.
Though it's impossible to predict the weather, it's best to visit Buttermilk Falls shortly after a rainfall if you can.
