Looking for a spot to go "blueberry picking near me?" Stoddard is known for its blueberries. An extensive area of heath barrens and blueberry fields run for miles along the Ridgecrest of Pitcher Mountain, Hubbard Hill, and Jackson Hill.
The Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway traverses all three summits. A walk along this ridge affords the chance to snack as you go!b It's the best spot for blueberry picking in New Hampshire.
In the midst of the blueberry fields on Hubbard Hill is an interesting landmark. A sign within the fields marks the halfway point of the 48-mile Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway.
Highland Lake, shared with the neighboring town of Washington, has been a popular site for recreational boating since the 1960s. Both year-round and seasonal residences are situated along the shore.
To cross the North Branch of the Contoocook River, residents of Stoddard voted for a uniquely built bridge to be constructed. This bridge still stands today.
Stoddard was a center of glass manufacturing in the mid-19th century. At its height, the town had four glass factories running at full capacity.
