Living in Nevada means you’re always on the lookout for new adventures, and we’ve got the perfect one for waterfall enthusiasts. This little-known trail takes you right through the lush and gorgeous Genoa Canyon, boasting jaw-dropping scenery every step of the way. However, it’s what’s waiting for you at the end of the trail that makes this an adventure to remember. The sight of an amazing little waterfall acts as the perfect reward for your trek, and it’s a sight that’s definitely worth seeking out. Keep reading to see for yourself!
Did you know there is a lovely little waterfall hiding out in Genoa Canyon? Not only that, but the canyon—located in the Carson Range west of Genoa— contains a three-mile-long trail that will take you right to it.
The start of the Genoa Waterfall Trail can be found at the end of Carson Street in the town of Genoa, Nevada. The trail is part of the Genoa Trail System and links up with several other trails, so you can always lengthen your adventure if you'd like.
As you set off, you'll be led into a gorgeous forest landscape, complete with dense thickets of conifers and other lush foliage. The trail closely follows along a ridge which boasts awe-inspiring views of the valley and town below.
The trail will then begin to follow a delightful little creek for a short distance. Hikers will continue to follow a chain of switchbacks which leads the trail up the slop of the canyon.
Although it feels wonderfully remote, the trail is very well-maintained and well-marked. You shouldn't have any problems following it and staying on the trail. Although there are some steep sections, the trail is considered manageable for hikers of most skill levels.
Finally, you'll come across the thing you've been waiting for this entire time—the Genoa Waterfall. This beautiful little waterfall is a welcome sight at the end of the trail. Although not enormous, it's still quite impressive. If anything, it makes for a great place to sit and relax before heading back.
