We definitely suggest visiting this charming boardwalk hiking trail in one of our state’s most beloved parks. This boardwalk makes it easy to see some of Nevada’s very best natural areas, and you’ll definitely want to visit it.
Hiding away in the majestic Red Rock Canyon is the Red Spring Boardwalk Trail (also referred to as Calico Basin Walking Path). It's a super easy half mile hike that takes you through some breathtaking areas of the canyon.
This enchanting boardwalk trail has a little bit of everything. The area is bountiful with intense scenery and fascinating history in the form of petroglyphs. The trail itself leads to the spring which Red Spring is named for.
The trail is nice and flat, with just a slight gradient. Anybody can enjoy the beauty that this trail offers, including people with strollers or wheelchairs.
The trail comes complete with panels containing information about the region. Since water can actually be found in this part of the canyon, you'll find a unique set of wildlife and plant species that thrive in the area. You might just stumble across some jackrabbits, chipmunks, hawks, bluebirds, and more.
The trail itself is short and doesn't take very long to complete. It's perfect if you're short on time but want to look around the canyon for a bit. If you want to stretch your time here, you can always do some exploring of the surrounding beauty.
The trail gives you access to some of the most stunning sandstone formations you've ever seen. Seeing these rocks up close is a must. Photos just don't do the area justice.
If you're craving solace from the noisiness of Las Vegas, you'll find it here at Red Rock. The beauty is endless, and you could spend all day soaking it all up.
The boardwalk was originally built to protect the flora and fauna of the area. However, it gets hikers as up close as possible to these beautiful sandstone formations. It's pretty amazing!
The Red Spring Picnic Area comes complete with shades pavilions, barbecue grills, and picnic tables. It's the perfect spot to have a picnic and spend the day hiking around the area. This trail is a must-visit.
You'll find the Red Spring Picnic Area located off of Calico Basin Road in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, north of State Route 159.
