Ahh, the crisp, fresh fall Nebraska air is finally moving in. Unfortunately for parts of the state, it's bringing some nasty weather along with it. But that doesn't quell our excitement for autumn. To usher in the season, let's take a look at 12 of the things we'll all do this fall.
1. Cheer on the Huskers.
Fall wouldn't be fall without some football, right?
2. Eat some delicious apple goodies.
Most of Nebraska's apples grow in the eastern part of the state, but we're pretty sure apple cider and fresh apple donuts taste just as amazing no matter where you are.
3. Visit a haunted house or two.
Fall is the best time to go chasing a good scare, and we have some pretty awesome haunted houses to give you just that.
4. Decorate the yard for Halloween.
Even if it's just a pumpkin or two, decorating for fall is always fun. But it's even more fun if you go all-out with the decorations!
5. Step out to enjoy the lovely foliage.
When the trees are transforming into their bright colors, taking a walk turns into a show much more entertaining than anything you'll see on TV.
6. Go hunting...or at least listen to some hunting stories.
If you don't hunt, you probably know someone who does. And that someone will be happy to regale you with plenty of stories about their hunts.
7. Eat a variety of pumpkin treats.
Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake...we could go on and on. They're ALL delicious.
8. Take a trip to a pumpkin patch.
Nothing says fall quite like going to a pumpkin patch and picking the perfect plump pumpkin.
9. Cuddle up with a scary movie.
In the days leading up to Halloween, watching scary movies is on just about everyone's to-do list.
10. Break the sweaters, coats, scarves, and gloves out of storage.
Sweater weather is almost here! Soon after, coat and glove weather will follow.
11. Rake...and rake...and rake...
The leaves just NEVER STOP FALLING.
12. Shudder just a little because we know winter's not far behind.
As awesome as fall is in Nebraska, it's never long enough. Soon we'll be breaking out the snow shovels. But for now, enjoy that pumpkin spice latte.
Sure, these things are done in other states, too, but we think they (and most other things in life) are best experienced in Nebraska. What other activities are part of your autumn every year?
