Summer in Nebraska means crazy hot temperatures, humid air so heavy you practically need oars to move through it, and fond thoughts of winter. While we can’t make winter come any faster, we can pretend that it’s Christmas even on the hottest day of the year at this delightful store in Atkinson.
Atkinson, in Holt County, has a population of just 1200 people. But there's a special place that draws in visitors from all over.
Something Special by Marilyn has been delighting visitors since 1998. It was started by a mother and daughter team who wanted to share their love of unique, special items.
But it's not just unusual items you'll find here. This four-level store is stocked with Christmas merchandise and decorations all year. Get a complimentary cup of cider or coffee to enjoy as you're wandering around the 4400-square-foot treasure trove.
There are 15 fabulous showrooms in the store, each containing so many treasures that you could spend ages poking through them all. They even recommend that you book a stay in a nearby hotel so you can spend a whole weekend seeing everything!
