This Easy Fall Hike In Wyoming Is Under A Mile And You’ll Love Every Step You Take
Vedauwoo in Wyoming offers a scenic and accessible hike perfect for fall and early winter.
Wyoming is truly full of natural beauty - no matter what season it is. In the fall and winter, many of our most famous and well-loved trails are off limits (unless you've got snowshoes!), but there are still a few short trails that are accessible most of the year. This one short loop outside of Cheyenne is perfect in the fall and early winter.
The gorgeous Vedauwoo are rocky outcroppings formed with 1.4 billion year old Sherman Granite, located just outside of Cheyenne.
As part of the Medicine Bow - Routt National Forest, the Vedauwoo area features an overnight campground and a picnic area.
The hike from the picnic area into the canyon is just a .7 mile loop trail, and there are plenty of boulders to climb up and around.
This highly entertaining hike is perfect for adults and kids alike. In the fall, it is absolutely bursting with color.
If the weather is nice, you'll often see rock climbers working on approaches all over the Vedauwoo.
The view from the top of the trail is breathtaking - you can see for miles into the canyon below.
Even in the heart of winter, the Vedauwoo area is perfect for walking, hiking, and exploring. Bundle up!
