The Hike To This Pretty Little Wyoming Waterfall Is Short And Sweet
Discover the beauty and power of Undine Falls in Yellowstone National Park through a short hike.
Wyoming is full of raging rivers and rocky mountains, which means we also have a whole lot of waterfalls to show off. While most Wyomingites have stopped to see Shell Falls, hiked Rotary Park to see Bridal Veil Falls, and spent enough time in the Canyon area to recognize the Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River in a flash, there are hundreds of other, smaller cascades that are under-appreciated. One of these is Undine Falls, which you can see via a short and sweet hike in Yellowstone National Park.
The northernmost part of Yellowstone may be the least explored, though there are so many natural wonders waiting to be discovered.
One of these underrated wonders is Upper and Lower Undine Falls.
The falls are accessible via a 1.8-mile out-and-back trail from the Undine Falls lot, off of Grand Loop Road.
As you get closer, you will be blown away by the sheer power of this cascade. The roar of the water is something you will always remember.
Stay a while and enjoy the sound of Lava Creek as it rushes its way towards the Gibbon River.
If you're looking for a more vigorous adventure, take the Lava Creek Canyon Trail to Undine Falls.
This alternate trail is an 8.3-mile out-and-back trail where you're likely to find plenty of company.
Address: Yellowstone National Park, WY, 82190
You'll find Undine Falls just past Mammoth Hot Springs along Grand Loop Road, and if you hike around the area, you're sure to find a quiet spot to see the cascades. Be sure to carry bear spray — after all, this is Grizzly country!
