The Underrated Wyoming Lake That’s Perfect For A Summer Day

However, the pretty little lake at the park is the perfect place for those who simply want to go somewhere fun to cool off in the hot summer weather. Bring along some food - with loads of things to do and picnicking facilities, you'll want to spend the whole day.

Edness Kimball Willkins State Park can be found off U.S. Highway 26 about 8 miles east of Casper.

The lake at the park is surrounded by sand, grass, and trees. The cool water is a natural draw on a sunny summer day.

There is more to do at the lake than just swim, however.

Visitors like windsurfing, kayaking, or canoeing here.

The area is a natural habitat for many different animals, so it's a great place for wildlife watching.

And some of them even pose for pictures.

The area around the lake at Edness Kimball State Park is also a natural draw for many different types of birds.

It's a terrific place for bird watching, either from afar or for meeting a few in person.

There is plenty of shade around the lake. With tables, shelters, and grills already provided, all you have to supply is the picnic.

After lunch, you can head back to the beach for a siesta in the sun...

...or indulge in something fun on dry land.

Although you can't spend the night on the beach at the lake, the park is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., so you can arrive early and stay late for a perfect summer day.
