This Winter Has Been One Of The Snowiest On Record For Wyoming, And It’s Not Over Yet

Way back in September, we reported on the Farmer's Almanac predicting a cold and snowy winter for Wyoming. True to their reputation, the Almanac was right! Over the past few months, Wyoming snow storms have buried the Cowboy State in whiteout conditions, closed highways, stranded travelers, and set up an incredible season in the mountains for skiers and snowboarders. Check out a few snowy scenes from this winter in Wyoming and fall in love with the gorgeous scenery that comes with these beautiful (and oftentimes, disruptive!) Wyoming snow storms.

Jackson Hole rung in the new year with snow... snow... and more snow. More than 10 FEET of powder fell in the first two weeks of January!

While the snow was incredible for skiers and snowboarders, those in the Star Valley were dealing with buried doorways, cars, and snow piled high onto rooftops.

After a brief, two day break, the storms roared again in the Rockies, dropping another 48.3 inches of snow over two weeks, breaking a 45-year record in Jackson Hole.

In early February, a two-day storm dumped snow on nearly every corner of the state, causing travel bans, weather advisories, and school closings from Jackson to Gillette.

In Casper, more than a foot of snow caused the local airport to be closed down for the first time in a decade.

You can see from this snowed-in house in Buffalo that Wyoming turned into a replica North Pole. We almost expected the Snow Miser to be spotted at the local grocery store.

Wyoming's snowy winter isn't over yet - there's more snow in the forecast. Wyoming snow storms are predicted to dump at least another six inches throughout the first week of March in many corners of the state.

While winter in Wyoming is nothing new for residents of the Cowboy State, even the most seasoned snowbunnies have to admit this one has been one for the books!
