The Canyon Waterfall Hike In Wyoming That Will Overwhelm You With Natural Beauty

Yellowstone Park is known for gorgeous geysers, thermal springs, and of course, beautiful waterfall hikes. One of the best hikes in the park is often skipped over for the more famous Canyon area hikes, and it's so worth discovering. Journey down into Sheepeater Canyon to the base of Osprey Falls for an adventure you're sure to love.

At first, the hike to Osprey Falls is easy - a two mile service road takes you almost all the way to your destination.

The beautiful hike to the top of Sheepeater Canyon, carved by the Gardner River, is one you'll fall in love with.

It's not hard to find signs pointing you towards the falls, about two miles in.

The hike down to the base of Osprey Falls is steep, so be prepared for quite a descent!

The trail drops nearly 800' straight down into Sheepeater Canyon.

Once you've made it to the falls, though, you'll be in one of Yellowstone's most breathtaking spots.

The majestic falls themselves cascade down 150' feet straight over the top of an old lava flow, into the Gardner River.

Though the steep descent and ascent of the trail are a challenge, the view is so incredibly worth the sweat and effort to get to your destination.

Grizzly Bears frequent this area, so you'll want to carry bear spray. To get to the trail head, drive south from Monmouth until you pass Golden Gate Bridge. Park on the left in the Glen Creek Trailhead parking lot, and begin your trek down Old Bunsen Peak Road Trail.
