The Brimmer Point Trail In Wyoming Leads To A Perch With Unparalleled Views
Guernsey State Park in Wyoming offers scenic hiking trails with panoramic views, particularly from the Brimmer Point Trail.
Guernsey State Park is considered one of the most underrated and overlooked state parks in Wyoming. The views from hiking trails are a big part of the attraction in the southeastern part of the state, and the Brimmer Point Trail is a perfect example. The 0.9-mile loop is a moderate climb to multiple vantage points of the Guernsey Reservoir, highlighted by a panoramic overlook.
Most of the hiking trails in Guernsey State Park are on the westside of the reservoir. Nearly the entire park is visible from the highest spot on the Brimmer Point Trail.
Late afternoon is considered a good time to hike the Brimmer Point Trail. Staying until sunset is good strategy, because the loop of less than a mile can be completed fairly quickly.
The Brimmer Point Trail fits into Wyoming's generally rugged landscape, amid a pine and juniper woodland. Hikers can create a 2.7-mile loop by combining this trail with the Newell Bat Trail.

The Brimmer Point Trail is dog-friendly, although leashes are required.
The Castle picnic area is one of Guernsey State Park's original projects built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
As is the case with most outdoor activities in Wyoming, March through October is the best time to hike the Brimmer Point Trail in Wyoming. The window of the calendar expands somewhat, though, because the Guernsey State Park elevation is 4,700 feet, lower than many cities in the state. Brimmer Point Drive leads to the trailhead, about 100 miles north of Cheyenne. For more information about visiting Guernsey State Park, see the Wyoming State Parks website.
