La Crosse's Rotary Lights is one of the most spectacular displays you'll ever see. With more than four million lights set up right along the Mississippi River, you'll truly feel like you're in a winter wonderland. You can choose to drive or walk through the display, but if the weather permits, we definitely recommend getting out and strolling along the paths to really feel immersed in the gorgeous feeling of the holiday glow. Get ready to embark on the best winter hike in Wisconsin.
There is no charge to view the rotary lights, though they do ask for a food or cash donation. In previous years, more than 300,000 pieces of food were collected and donated to local programs. Volunteers are set up at the entrance to collect the donations.
The event kicks off with a spectacular parade. Stare in awe as colorful floats drive by. This display will really make you feel like a kid again.
This display is truly stunning and one of a kind. Its location right on the edge of the Mississippi River gives the display that extra bit of magic as the lights twinkle off the water.
Driving through can be done, but getting out on the path and experiencing it in the open air is really the best way to take it all in.
Another great way to experience the fun is to embark on a lovely carriage ride through the grounds. It's like a scene from a Christmas card!
The display can feel 360 degrees at times and you'll fall in love with the truly magical feel of being surrounded by beautiful, shimmering lights.
The lights display runs from the day after Thanksgiving until December 31 and there's so much to see and do.
There's an "ice castle" that features tons of live music, as well as a small store to shop in, refreshments, sleigh rides, a living nativity and more.
Walking up to the center of the display is like being in a movie. You can mail letters to Santa and relish the feeling of traveling to the North Pole.
Santa and his friends are there every night until December 23rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kids love to visit and share their lists.
This display is truly magical and one that will really put you in the holiday spirit.
It's definitely worth bundling up, taking your family and immersing yourself in it all.
La Crosse is truly lucky to have such an amazing display put on by volunteers.
