There's just something so magical about a train ride. It's nostalgic and just makes you think of a different time. It's a chance to slow down, enjoy the environment and let the stress melt away. Maybe it's because of Polar Express, but there's something just so remarkable and transformative about the idea of Christmas combined with the mythos of trains. One of the most fun holiday train rides in Wisconsin happens in East Troy thanks to the East Troy Railroad Museum.
This train takes a 10-mile path through the middle of the southern Wisconsin countryside.
This ride only departs from the East Troy Depot and travels up to the Elegant Farmer, where you'll head to Santa's workshop. Here children can visit Santa and get a photo taken with the jolly elf himself! Santa's workshop wouldn't be complete without some hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy.
This ride in particular is awesome because it's a full two-hour experience - 30 minutes on the train to the Elegant Farmer, one hour at the Elegant Farmer, and a 30-minute train ride back to the East Troy Depot. The train cars are heated and your family will get their money's worth on this enchanting, fabulous Christmas ride.
Old and young alike with all appreciate this special and spectacular way to get into the holiday spirit. The trees start to get covered in snow and the whole thing takes on an ethereal, otherworldly aura.
There's just no better way to turn the page from Thanksgiving to Christmas than to recreate your own Polar Express experience.
Bring a non-perishable food item with each member of your party and receive a 10% discount on tickets at the Depot. All donated items benefit the East Troy Food Pantry.
The folks here have created a spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime experience that you and your family will talk about over and over again.
