There Are 5 Beaches Within 10 Minutes Of This One Wisconsin Town
Door County offers beautiful beaches perfect for relaxation and scenic enjoyment.
When the weather is warm, Door County is a destination that’s hard to beat. No matter where you are in the county, you’re never far from a refreshing lake breeze or a beautiful stretch of soft sand. Sister Bay is in the heart of this gorgeous beach country and from the center of town, you’re less than 10 minutes from five gorgeous beaches. You might find some bigger beaches in the state parks, but if you’re looking for a nice place to relax with someone special, these beaches can feel like a slice of paradise. Here’s what you need to know about the beaches near Wisconsin’s best beach town.
1. Sister Bay Beach
While Sister Bay has seen a lot of changes over the years, you can still count on a couple of things. The goats will be on the roof at Al Johnson’s, and Sister Bay Beach will offer a quiet oasis right in town.
The beach is just steps from Highway 42, but it feels a world away. About 600 feet of sand beach awaits your beach blanket.
2. Pebble Beach
This hidden gem is covered with smooth pebbles, rather than sand. It might remind you a little bit of Washington Island’s Schoolhouse Beach, minus the ferry ride. Thanks to a land deal a few years ago, Pebble Beach will be protected forever.
3. Ephraim Beach
A short drive to the south, you’ll find the picture-perfect Village of Ephraim. Grab an ice cream cone, and then head to the south end of town to Ephraim Beach. You’ll find a small, soft sand beach that’s protected by the beauty of Eagle Harbor.
4. Sand Bay Beach
If you’re looking for a pleasant beach that’s away from the bustle of the villages, look no further than Sand Bay Beach. The water is perfect for little ones – the bay is very protected and the water is shallow and sandy for a good distance from shore.
5. Ellison Bay Beach
Generations of families have enjoyed this small but pleasant beach. A large dock offers protection from the waves. You may want to plan to have lunch at Ellison Bay Community Park and Beach – there’s a nice area for picnicking.
