The Mound Trail Is A Hidden River Path In Wisconsin Worthy Of A Day Hike

In far western Wisconsin, there's a hiking trail that skirts the edge pf a beautiful river. The Mound Trail in Willow River State park is a place for a great Wisconsin day hike. It’s an easy hike, but it’s beautiful; to experience more of this river, you would have to be paddling a canoe! Here’s what you need to know about the Mound Trail in Willow River State Park.

Willow River State Park is located in St. Croix County.

It’s an easy day trip from places like Eau Claire, the Twin Cities, and La Crosse.

The park is a popular place for people who are looking for a natural escape.

The park spans nearly 2,900 acres, and it’s located right on the Willow River, a pretty 61-mile river.

The star attraction in this state park is Willow Falls, a beautiful cascade of water in a 200-foot-deep gorge.

It’s one of the most-photographed natural attractions in this part of the state.

But there’s much more to this park than a breathtaking waterfall.

The Mound Trail traces the bank of the Willow River, on the park’s eastern side.

The hike takes about 45 minutes to complete, and it’s relatively flat and easy hiking.

It’s a great trail for families or hikers who aren’t seeking a lot of elevation.

The river is a wonderful presence next to the trail.

You can hear its bubbling waters as you hike, and there are a lot of nice river views. There are also some side trails that will take you right up to the river’s edge!
