The Breathtaking Overlook In Washington That Lets You See For Miles And Miles
Washington Pass Overlook in the North Cascades offers stunning views and is a must-visit once the skies clear.
Washington's skies have been pretty smoky this summer, but it won't be long before they're clear and blue once again. And when the time comes when the smoke has cleared and it's safe to travel again, you should head straight to one of our beautiful scenic overlooks and take in the views. We highly recommend the Washington Pass Overlook in the North Cascades.
To reach the Washington Pass Overlook, you'll turn onto NF-500 from Highway 20.
There will be signs and a parking area.
This is considered the dividing line between eastern and western Washington.
It also happens to be the highway's highest point at 5,500 feet.
The views from the overlook are absolutely incredible...
... and, yes, they seem totally endless.
If you're cruising down the North Cascades Highway, this should be an obligatory stop.
If you're feeling adventurous, there are numerous hiking trails near the overlook that offer similar stunning views.
The North Cascade peaks are majestic, especially the Liberty Bell Group of 8,000-foot spires and Kangaroo Ridge, which is a fantastic place to enjoy fall foliage.
But if you only have time for a brief stop, just find the overlook and take it all in.
The pass has restrooms, interpretive signs, and picnic areas, so you can stay as long as you'd like.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all the firefighters and volunteers working tirelessly to keep Washington beautiful. In the meantime, here are some scenic spots we'll soon be enjoying to the fullest once again.
