The Ape Cave Lava Tubes are on the south side of Mt. St. Helens. You'll need to take Highway 503 to reach them.

There are two caves within the lava tubes. The lower cave is just under a mile long and the upper cave is approximately one and half miles long.
In addition to bringing a jacket, remember to pack a flashlight or headlamp so you can get a close look at the colors and details within the lava caves.
The lava caves are around 2,000 years old. During your visit, have fun imagining that you've been transported to another world.
The caves might be a bit slippery, so make sure you're wearing a good pair of hiking shoes, too.
