Explore Washington’s Quiet Coastline At This Underrated State Park
Twin Harbors State Park in Washington offers diverse outdoor activities and scenic coastal beauty, making it a unique and dynamic destination.
Washington's state parks are one of a kind. Each year, they're visited by a whopping 40 million people who come to enjoy hiking, camping, beach combing, and other outdoor activities.
The Evergreen State has 124 state parks, so the odds are good that you live close to a few. However, some of our quiet coastal parks tend to be a bit overlooked, even if they are in our tourist destinations. In spite of it not being a very "hidden" gem, Twin Harbors State Park is an underrated treasure.
Twin Harbors State Park is one of several state parks in the Westport area.
This 172-acre camping park sits on the Pacific Coast, just a few miles south of the popular Westhaven State Park in Westport.
Tunnels of shore pines take you toward the beach trails and quickly transition to sand dunes and dune grass.
You'll get the best of both worlds here.
There's just something special about our coastal parks—they're especially dynamic and beautiful.
Visiting this place will remind you of how lucky we are to live in a state that borders the ocean.
Take a long stroll along the driftwood-scattered beach, breathing in the fresh ocean air.
You'll see a lot of kite-flying here on windy days (which happen pretty often on the coast). In the winter, this is the perfect place for storm-watching, especially when you can spot lightning off the coast.
This is a camping park, with a cluster of cabins, yurts, and tent and RV sites offering plenty of variety.
Reservations can be made online up to nine months in advance.
The yurts are particularly enticing, offering a mix between traditional camping and glamping.
Each yurt is furnished with bunk beds that sleep three, a queen-size futon, floor lamp, small end table and heater. Bathrooms and showers are nearby. Note that you'll have to bring your own bed linens and blankets.
Twin Harbors State Park is a true treasure.
