The Hidden Bluebird Trail In Virginia Meanders Peacefully Through A Nature Preserve

There's something so calming about embarking on an easy loop trail. Without many strenuous inclines or tricky switchbacks, flat trails give our minds both the chance to wander and appreciate our immediate surroundings. For today's feature hike, we're headed to Hoffler Creek Preserve near Portsmouth, Virginia. It's here you'll find a trail known as the Bluebird Trail that measures just half a mile in length and likely won't take you more than 20 minutes to complete. Yet you shouldn't rush; there's much to discover along the hidden Bluebird Trail in Virginia!

For those interested in a short, easy, and well-maintained trail, the Bluebird Trail is a fantastic option.

Measuring just half a mile, this trail will take you to a scenic salt marsh observation deck overlooking the creek.

The hike begins in the woods before clearing to panoramic views of the marsh. This variety in terrain is quite enjoyable, especially in the summer when you're looking for a little shade.

Portions of the trail are also boardwalks, providing a nice, even surface.

Once you get to the observation deck, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for glimpses of wildlife.

As you can imagine, the Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve is a fantastic place to watch for birds!
