At 3,144 feet, Mount Ascutney is a great destination in Vermont for scenic views and adventure. Although there are a few trail options that'll take you through the mountain and to the summit, keep in mind that you'll be hiking on a non-active volcano too. And while you won't see an active volcano in the Green Mountain State, you'll probably see a hang glider or two jumping off the mountain and soaring through the sky!
To reach Mount Ascutney, set your GPS to Weathersfield, Vermont.
The views from Mount Ascutney won't disappoint. On a clear day, you'll be able to see for miles as you climb towards the summit.
Per this trail sign, you'll have a few options of how you'd like to explore this non-active volcano.
As you hike along the mountain, imagine what the area would be like if the volcano was actually active.
During your outing on the mountain, take notice of the diverse greenery and rock formations along the trails.
Feel free to bring your furry friends on your outdoor adventure too.
During your hike, be sure to stop along the various vantage points to take in the memorable views of the Green Mountain State.
Be prepared to have your jaw drop if you happen to visit Mount Ascutney during the fall. Of course, remember to bring your camera to capture views like this too!
