When warm weather hits and you find yourself looking for outdoor activities that won’t have you roasting, an outdoor float trip is just the thing. This amazing natural ‘lazy river’ in Vermont will take you thousands of feet down the White River and keep you cool at the same time. Here’s what you need to know.
This awesome experience in Stockbridge is the perfect combination of relaxing and fun. Vermont River Tubing offers a great float trip that transforms the White River into an epic lazy river.
You’ll be able to soak up the scenery along one of Vermont’s prettiest rivers while gently floating along the water in an inflatable inner tube. The company provides guidance and equipment and helps you set off on your river adventure.
Kids and adults with no prior tubing experience are welcome. Tube rental is just $15 per tube and optional water shoes are available for $10 per pair. Staff will take you from the parking area to the top of lazy river area in a van. From there, you’ll float back to the spot you started from and will be able to climb out of the river and right back into your car.
The trip can be as quick as two hours if you don’t stop at all, but most participants love extending the fun by breaking for a picnic lunch on the banks or stopping to enjoy the scenery.
Don’t forget to grab an extra tube for your cooler! If you don’t have a cooler, the company rents floating coolers (no tube needed) for $15. You’ll also want to pack all your edibles in plastic, as glass isn’t allowed on the river.
Water shoes are highly recommended for this river experience, as you will want to hop out and make your way over slippery rocks at certain points. The water level in the river can change depending on the time of year and weather conditions, which also makes being able to wade along on foot a must.
