Just a few minutes from Interstate 91 stands Crystal Lake, an apropos name for this placid and vibrant body of water. The vivid blue watercolor and stillness of this breathtaking lake make this roadside spot all the more enticing.
Crystal Lake State Park is located in the town of Barton in the Northeast Kingdom, and the area is exuberantly beautiful, teeming with natural wilderness and mountainous terrain.
Surrounded by mountains, Crystal Lake is situated sweetly in the Willoughby State Forest, not far from Lake Willoughby.
The glacial lake is roughly three miles long and more than 100 feet deep in several areas. Also, along the lake, there is over a mile of sandy beachfront, making it a perfect spot to stop off and take a dip and enjoy a day at the beach.
You can also rent canoes and kayaks at Crystal Lake State Park. There are also many grills, picnic tables, and plenty of parking available.
