Picturesque Sugar House Park Is Pretty Year-Round

Utah's pretty city parks are the perfect spots for all kinds of recreation. Whether you're taking the kids over for some exercise on the playground, renting a pavilion for a family party, or just finding a quiet outdoor spot to relax, parks are the place to be.

Sugarhouse Park is one of Salt Lake City's gems. It's beautiful year-round, and if you haven't visited lately, it's time to stop by!

The land where Sugarhouse Park sits was once the site of the Utah State Prison, but the prison was relocated in the 1950s, and the area was rededicated as a park for the community.

The park includes 110 acres of rolling hills, grass, playgrounds, gathering areas, and a large pond. The Wasatch Mountains provide a stunning backdrop.

Parleys Creek runs right through the heart of the park. Take a stroll along the creek, or sit along its banks and enjoy the atmosphere.

The 1.38-mile-road that circles Sugarhouse Park is designed for safety with one-way traffic, and it also has a 16-foot lane for pedestrians. Runners, walkers, and moms with strollers love this loop!

Large, grassy areas provide wide-open space for recreation. Kids have plenty of room to fly kites, kick soccer balls, or just run around. If you want to plan something more formal like a soccer clinic, you can make a reservation so your team will have a place to practice.

There are several playgrounds sprinkled throughout the park, providing all kinds of fun, interactive equipment for kids to swing, slide, climb, and more.

The large pond is the centerpiece of the park, and it's home to ducks and geese.

Sugarhouse Park is open year-round, seven days a week. Visit from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during summer months; or until 9 p.m. in the winter.
