Moab is a popular spot for year-round recreation, and for some visitors, it's the first time they get a look at Utah's iconic red-rock scenery. While many Utahns might be accustomed to the beauty of the landscape, others take in those towering cliffs and sweeping vistas and are absolutely blown away.
Whether you're taking visitors from out of town, or going to Moab as a local for the first time, it's good to get your bearings when you arrive. Your first stop? Lions Park.

You'll find Lions Park just a few miles north of downtown, and it's the perfect place to stop for a quick break to stretch your legs and get your bearings.
Have a picnic at one of the tables, and start soaking in that red-rock beauty.
You can learn a little bit more about the area from several informational signs, and can use the restrooms before heading off on your very first Moab adventure.
The park includes a 2.5-mile-long path that takes you along the banks of the Colorado River. It's a nice, shady stroll that's paved and perfect for everyone to enjoy.
You'll soon come to this beautiful bridge. Constructed in 2014, it crosses the Colorado River, and follows along for a scenic stroll or bike ride.
The bridge is part of a larger network of trails that takes you to Arches National Park, Dead Horse State Park, and Canyonlands National Park.
The Colorado River is a beautiful sight, and this little path is a great way to see it up close. After you cross the bridge, the pathway is situated right above the river's banks.
Lions park, bridge, and trail provide you with plenty of red-rock views. We tend to take this majestic beauty for granted, but visitors from other parts of the country are often stunned at the rock formations in Moab.
