Sunset Point can be found in Utah's famous Bryce Canyon National Park, and with a name like Sunset Point, you can be guaranteed to see some world-class sunsets. Located high above the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater, Sunset Point looks over the Silent City, the maze of hoodoos and fins (types of spectacular rock formations) down below.
Many argue that Sunset Point boasts the brightest rock colors in Bryce Canyon National Park. These rock formations are made of limestone, and the bright reds, oranges, and yellows are caused by iron oxide minerals on the rock. From Sunset Point, you will get a breathtaking view of all these colors from above.
The sunsets from Sunset Point are truly breathtaking. With only a short walk from the parking lot, watching the end of the day from Sunset Point will put a memorable finishing touch on your visit to Bryce Canyon National Park.
You can also hike from Sunset Point down into the Amphitheater on the Navajo Loop Trail. This will take you down from Sunset Point, and will end on the rim of the canyon at Sunrise Point.
You can also travel from Sunset Point to Sunrise Point via a paved path. This is an easy half-mile walk for those that don't want to venture into the Amphitheater
The view from Sunset Point is also incredible during the winter. Seeing the red and orange stone peaking out from the white snowy blanket is a unique experience you won't get anywhere else.
