Bear Lake Is A Scenic Outdoor Spot In Utah That’s A Nature Lover’s Dream Come True

Even though we may be in the middle of winter, that doesn’t mean we have to stay indoors. Sometimes it can be a nice change of scenery to throw on a coat (or two), lace up your boots, and get off on an epic outdoor adventure. When the urge to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life calls, Bear Lake in Utah is an ideal spot for a getaway. Pristine and beautiful year-round, it’s certainly a nature lover’s dream come true. Let’s take a closer look.

Bear Lake 109-square-mile natural freshwater lake on the Idaho-Utah border.

For the most part, it’s split equally among the two states. For Utah, it’s the second-largest natural freshwater lake in the state, right behind Utah Lake.

The lake is known as the “Caribbean of the Rockies” due to its incredibly beautiful turquoise-blue water.

This is due to the refraction of limestone deposits in the lake.

It’s a popular destination during the warmer months for anyone looking to have some fun in the sun.

And partake in water sports, kayaking, and swimming.

But it’s even more magical in the winter.

When the temperatures drop and snowfall blankets the mountains in the backdrop, it makes for quite the scenic spot.

Snowmobiling around the lake is a popular activity during winter.

While Bear Lake State Park does not offer any snowmobile rentals, you may bring your own into the park, just make sure to follow the rules of the road and all guidelines.

Cross-country skiing is also popular.

After a fresh powder, strap on your skis and set off on the trails for a memorable afternoon surrounded by some of Utah’s most beautiful natural scenery.

If you can, be sure to stick around until sunset.
