There’s A Secret Volcanic Pool Hiding In Hawaii And It’s A Piece Of Paradise
Queen's Bath in Kauai, Hawaii, is a stunning yet dangerous tide pool known for its beauty and historical significance as a royal swimming area.
One of the most beautiful tide pools in Hawaii is also the most treacherous. But if you keep your wits about you, the Queen’s Bath on the Hawaiian island of Kauai may just be the most stunning place you ever swim. Read on to find out more about this enchanting secret pool.
Located in Princeville, The Queen’s Bath is on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii. It's a brilliant turquoise pool fed by sea water spilling over the encircling lava rocks.
The pool gets its alluring name from its reputation as a former swimming area for Hawaii’s royalty.
The waters here are clear enough to spot beautiful fish darting amongst the rocks.
While the pool’s waters are generally calm and safe to explore during the summer, unpredictable tides and storms in the winter transform the serene swimming hole into a potential death trap.
Locals post signs around the pool warning tourists of the dangers of swimming on days when the waves reach above four feet. While the official records state that seven people have drowned in the pool between 1970 and 2012, local warning signs put the death toll at 28.
Even though this pool has a Jekyll and Hyde reputation, it’s still one of the most popular things to do in Princeville and an absolutely breathtaking spot to experience during safe conditions.
The pool can be reached via a 10-minute hike through dense forest off of Kapiolani Road in Princeville, HI.
