Hiding deep in the West Texas desert landscape, Guadalupe Mountains National Park is home to the four highest peaks in our state. You'll also encounter the world's most extensive Permian fossil reef, sand dunes, historic buildings, and so much more.

Over 80 miles of trails wind through the park, all of varying lengths, difficulties, and scenery. Easy trails lead you through diverse flora and fauna, moderate hikes cut through canyons, and strenuous treks take you to the "Top of Texas."

Ranging from 2.3 to 8.5 miles, there's a hike for every fitness level. Natural rock staircases, lush forests, and roaring waterfalls are just several of the features you'll encounter.

At 8,750 feet, Guadalupe Peak can proudly call itself the highest point in Texas. El Capitan, soaring just over 8,000 feet into the sky is a very close second.

One of the park's greatest assets, McKittrick Canyon is the ideal destination for a fall hike. The foliage is breathtaking, and West Texas is cool enough during autumn to comfortably enjoy the scenery.

Just when you think the views couldn't get any better, night falls and billions of glimmering stars illuminate the sky. Two separate campgrounds offer more than 50 tent and RV sites so you can take in the spectacular vistas even longer.

You'll find Guadalupe Mountains National Park just north of Highway 180 near the border with New Mexico. It's about two hours east of El Paso.
