The Little River at Townsend Wye has been listed as one of the top swimming holes in Tennessee, fed by the clean and clear water of the mountains. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this swimming hole got its unique name from the shape of two intersecting roads in the area.
The Little River is one of the best tubing rivers in the park, and this spot is a great spot to put in to the river. Don't worry if you don't have your own tubes -- there are multiple companies in the area that rent them out.
One of the common sights at the Townsend Wye is the people jumping off of a large rock on the shore into the cool water below. The highest jumps are about 25 feet off of the water.
There is a small parking lot near the swimming hole, but spots can be hard to come by on beautiful summer days. We recommend getting there early so you can enjoy the water without the hassle of fighting for parking.
