The weather is starting to get a bit warmer, which means we'll be pulling ourselves out from under our heavy coverlets and start seeking a bit of sunlight and socialization. We're lucky, as Tennesseans, to experience an early spring and late summer, so restaurants like the Riverview Restaurant & Marina have a nice long season for outdoor eating and that fun, fizzy conversation that comes in the sunlight. Have you been?
The Riverview Restaurant & Marina is located in Ashland City, Tennessee, which is a span of water-laced land just outside of Nashville.
It's located right on the Cumberland River at Mile Market 158. Due to its proximity to the water as well as its middle ground between Clarksville and Nashville, this local hangout attracts folks from all over the middle state.
Ordering up a plate of catfish is the name of the game if you make your way to Riverview. It's the restaurant's specialty, and one taste is all you need to figure out why. The view doesn't hurt, either.
Another crowd favorite is the butterflied and breaded shrimp, coupled with homemade tartar sauce. A meal offered up waterside and with an air of down home friendliness is really the best way to enjoy a lazy Saturday.
Although holiday hours tend to get a bit iffy, especially during Christmas and New Year's, during a majority of the year you can come by Tuesday through Sunday for dinner and lunch.
There's a 240-foot transient dock available for use, as well, so you don't have to show up in a car! P.S.: If you're looking for something decadent post-boat trip, we'd recommend the famous Blackberry Wine Cake. You can only get it here!
We'll meet you out on the patio, at 110 Old River Road in Ashland City. Happy springtime, Tennessee!
