You May Not Like These Predictions About South Dakota’s Positively Frigid Upcoming Winter
One thing's for sure, South Dakota looks like a different place when she's covered in snow. The transformation from summer to winter is monumental in the Mount Rushmore State. And this winter, according to the predictions just released by the Old Farmer's Alamanc, looks to be worse than last.
For starters, we can expect colder temps this year than last.
South Dakota's average temperature in January is 22-degrees for the high; the average low temp is 0, according to Climate Data.
Add to the colder temps more snow than South Dakota saw last winter.
Climate Data also pegs the average snowfall in the state at 38 inches. Plan for more this year, if the Old Farmer's Almanac is on the money with their prediction.
The Old Farmer's Almanac says their predicitons are usually 80-percent accurate.
At any rate, more snow and lower temps mean ice storms are sure to make more of an impact.
Plus, more precipitation, in any form, and colder temps mean we can expect harsher road conditions...
...making driving in the Mount Rushmore State this winter even more challenging than last year.
In summary, the prediction for the upcoming winter in South Dakota won't make many people happy.
Except these gentlemen, who get to sit back and watch it all unfold.
