You’ll Feel Like You’re On Top Of The World When You Reach The End Of Little Devils Tower Spur Trail In South Dakota

Discover the moderate 3.6-mile Little Devils Tower Spur Trail in Custer State Park, South Dakota, known for its challenging terrain and breathtaking views.

South Dakota's brimming with jaw-dropping beauty. One of the best ways to experience and to appreciate that beauty is on a scenic hike. If you're on the hunt for a bit of a challenge that's rewarded with unforgettable views, you can't go wrong by following this trail in South Dakota. You might even add it to your hiking must-do list.

Come to Custer State Park well prepared, especially if you plan to hike the 3.6-mile Little Devils Tower Spur Trail, an out and back trail that's rated moderate.

You'll do plenty of climbing uphill and might face some tricky terrain, so be sure to wear comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes. Bring along plenty of water, too, especially if you're hiking on a warm day.

The trail can get really busy, and the parking lot can fill up quickly. Your best bet is to head over to the trail early in the day before the crowds arrive.

Don't forget your camera, because you're in for some beautiful scenery, including local wildlife.

Shade is scarce along the trail, so, again, come prepared — read: bring lots of water. The most challenging part of the hike is at the very end, where you'll have to scramble to the tower's summit.

However, you'll quickly realize all the work was worth it for the views of Black Elk Peak and the Cathedral Spires.

While the first part of the hike is all uphill, you'll have a much easier journey back to the parking lot as you'll be traveling downhill.
