Meander at your own pace along a well-traveled path that leads from the front of this 115-acre coastal retreat and botanical garden.

The loop trail is 2.4 miles in length and passes through a variety of ecosystems, all the while presenting wildflowers and diverse flora.

A swamp complete with waterlogged trees doles out so many hues of green you'll won't be able to count them, even if your try. And the opaque green water is astounding.

Travel on natural sandy path and boardwalks as you make your way from the start of the path over by Highway 17 all the way to the scenic intracoastal waterway nearly a mile away.

The occasional informational kiosk provides useful information about the area and the flora and fauna found here.

As you trek, you’ll run into some hidden gems, so be sure to have your camera in hand to capture a few of them for your collection.

And over on the waterway at low tide there is a sandy beach to sit, reflect, and enjoy the view.

Incidentally, Vereen Memorial Gardens is also hiding an amazing historical element, too.

Over behind the CB Berry Community Center at the entrance to the property, you'll find an unpaved segment of the oldest road in America, the Kings Highway, which was a colonial route that connected Boston to Charleston.
