There’s so much to love about summer, especially in the beautiful state of South Carolina. With kids being out of school, it’s the perfect time for completing a summer bucket list of fun adventures, some of which are best done in the summer months. One such activity, in fact, is even exclusive to the season. Come along with us today as we explore a spot that’s one of the best places to experience the beauty of summer wildflowers in South Carolina.

Located in South Carolina’s upstate small town of Landrum, The Blue Wall Preserve is a protected area of about 20,000 acres within the Blue Ridge Escarpment of the Southern Appalachian mountains. Rich in natural plant life, it’s the perfect place to enjoy summer wildflowers.

There are several trails at The Blue Wall Preserve, including Twin Ponds Trail, part of the Palmetto Trail, and a waterfall trail, covering a total of over 10 miles.

Along with the South Carolina summer wildflowers, there’s beautiful scenery to take in. No matter your age, you feel like you could get lost in thought for a while here, as if time stands still. What a peaceful place!

The preserve has been designated as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society, with 114 different bird species spotted in the area.

And of course…summer wildflowers come in a nice variety of colors and sizes, some of which attract butterflies to watch flutter about.

As you walk along enjoying the beautiful wildflowers, be mindful and watch your step, as snakes also live within this habitat. Some visitors have come across copperheads while exploring.

The Twin Ponds trail is popular with families, as it is an easy hike.

Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after.

There are no bathrooms, so be sure to take a restroom break before arriving. You won’t want to have to cut your visit short!

Pick up a pack of tick and insect-repellent wipes while planning this fun adventure.
