You May Not Like These Predictions About South Carolina’s Wild Upcoming Winter

The 2018 Farmers' Almanac winter predictions are out and you may not like the winter weather ahead for the Palmetto State. Take a look:

It seems this winter, more than last, we'll see more consistently wet and chilly weather.

Sometimes an unusally wet summer is an ominous prediction for the winter - and that appears to be the case for South Carolina.

Parts of the Upstate, Midlands and PeeDee will definitely see colder weather than usual combined with a wintry chill that could occasionally disrupt your daily routines.

So get ready to break out the space heaters and wool socks and if you're lucky, spend the occasional day working from home.

The Almanac has pinpointed specific dates when you'll need that snow shovel: January 20-23, February 4-7 & 16-19, and March 1-3 & 20-23. Will the snow be up to your shoulders like in the photo below? The Almanac didn't get specific with actual accumulation amounts, but given our history it's unlikely the snow will pile as high as the photo below!

But what about the rest of the state? Will those in the Lowcountry be donning shorts while their neighbors to the north and northwest are donning snow shovels?

Unfortunately not. The 2018 Almanac predicts an unusually wet and cold winter for the coastal areas of South Carolina. So, while you can still go to the beach, you'll need to bundle up.

To sum things up, as usual depending upon where you reside in the Palmetto State your winter could be drastically different from other parts of South Carolina. But the two things that ring true for the entire state are chilly, colder than normal temps and LOTS of precipitation.
