It's such a nice feeling to get out in nature and take a good long hike. The fresh air combined with natural beauty and a chance to spend some time in peaceful solitude, or with loved ones, is pretty hard to beat. When you think about Rhode Island, the knowledge that it's the smallest state might make you believe it's not the best for hikers, but you would be wrong! There are over 100 unique trails just waiting to be discovered, all with their own special rewards. This particular Rhode Island nature hike will lead you to an absolutely stunning rocky overlook that will make you feel as though you've stepped into the windowsill of an old castle at the top of a hill
Tippecansett trail is located in the popular Arcadia management area.
This area is home to 25 separate trails and covers a whopping 14,000 acres.
This trail is over ten miles point to point, so we only recommend it for seasoned hikers with a high endurance level.
That said, the best views are only about .7 miles into the hike, so if you just want to see a great overlook, you don't have to do the entire length of the trail.
To reach this overlook, keep an eye out for the junction with deep pond trail, then turn left and head upwards.
There is a gap in the ledges that gives you unparalleled views of Beach Pond.
You'll feel like royalty being so high up above the pond.
The overlook is a great spot to stop and enjoy a snack, some conversation, or even just a bit of peaceful contemplation as you look out on the water.
If you want to keep the adventure going, check out some of the other trails in the area! Ben Utter trail leads to stunning waterfall.
What an unbeatably beautiful Rhode Island nature hike! We think that exploring this trail would be an awesome way to spend your day. Who are you going to bring along to trek the Tippacansett Trail?
