The View From This Little-Known Overlook In Rhode Island Is Almost Too Beautiful For Words
Prospect Terrace Park in Providence offers stunning views of the city and is perfect for a relaxing visit.
The natural beauty of Rhode Island is truly breathtaking to even think about. This little state is pretty low on the elevation scale, but there are still a number of great spots on which you can look down from above onto some exciting spots. Prospect Terrace in Providence may be tiny, but the view over the city is truly unmatched, and well worth your time.
Prospect Terrace Park can be found on Congdon Street on the East Side of Providence.
The neighborhood is called College Hill because it's quite a hike to get up there from downtown. We recommend taking public transit or driving if you aren't looking for a big workout.
Founded in 1869, this little park earned the nickname "the Jewel of the City" for the splendid views it offers.
The park is small enough that you can enjoy the view from almost any spot, and it's got many a comfy bench and big shade tree to sit under for a spell.
Make sure to say hi to the 15 foot tall statue of Rhode Island's founder, Roger Williams.
The statue was built in the 30's and depicts Roger Williams gazing down on the city. Once his grave lay right under this statue, but it was moved after the roots of a nearby apple tree overtook the grave.
This park is so special because no matter the season, it's the perfect place to get some fresh air and enjoy a breathtaking view of Providence's impressive skyline.
You can choose to just enjoy the park for a few pictures, or make a day of it by bringing a picnic, laying out a blanket, and enjoying some quality time with loved ones in front of a stunning view.
We recommend checking out Thayer street for some delectable takeout options if you don't want to pack a picnic at home.
This overlook is not only a great place to admire the beauty of Rhode Island's capitol city, it is also the perfect spot to kick off a day of exploring all that this magnificent city has to offer.
