From the coast to the historical landmarks, and even stunning mansions, there are just so many picturesque and breathtaking places to see. It comes as no surprise that many of the states most impressive sites would be sought out by movie producers. 1. Fort Wetherill, Jamestown
Fort Wetherill was featured in the Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom. The movie was released in 2012, but this state park is still as beautiful as ever.
2. Downtown Providence
The city of Providence has been featured in various films and television series. It's not only historically rich and lovely, but also features the river and other wondrous places. Some popular movie examples with scenes in Providence include There's Something About Mary, RIPD, and Dumb and Dumber.
3. Galilee
This charming fishing village is found in the town of Narragansett and possesses some of the most breathtaking scenic views in the state. It was one of several Rhode Island locations in the movie Me, Myself, and Irene featuring Jim Carrey in 2000.
4. Portsmouth
This small Rhode Island town was awarded much attention when the film Age Of Innocence was released in 1993. A large portion of this Oscar winning drama was filmed here.
5. Rosecliff Mansion, Newport
The Great Gatsby was filmed at this breathtaking Gilded Age mansion. You can visit architecturally stunning home via the Newport Preservation Society and experience the location of so many classic scenes in person!
6. Hope High School, Providence
The adorable super hero comedy film Underdog was filmed on Providence's East Side and includes many shots of Hope High School.

The 1999 coming of age comedy features tons of Providence scenes. Brown University in particular is a major location of the film.
10. Goooseberry Beach, Newport
This stunning Rhode Island beach is so picturesque it was featured in the 2007 romance film Evening. The movie stars Meryl Streep, Vanessa Redgrave, Claire Danes, Toni Collete, and others!
