Narragansett Beach in Rhode Island is a popular, clean, and inviting New England saltwater beach known for its stunning coastline and wildlife.
Rhode Island is called the Ocean State, and for good reason. We've got miles and miles of stunning coastline and sandy beaches. But when it comes to a clean, inviting swimming beach, nothing tops Narragansett. There's a reason so many Rhode Islanders are smitten with it.
Narragansett Beach is a classic, good old-fashioned New England saltwater beach.
The town of Narragansett has a population of 15,464, but the beach gets thousands of visitors each year.
Narragansett Town Beach stretches north along Beach Road from the towers of Narragansett Pier.
Admission costs $10 per day, or you can get a season pass. The beach is located in the center of town, and there's plenty of parking in the area.
The beach spans 19 stunning acres.
The southern shoreline is rocky with a concrete sea wall, while the northern end is marked by the entrance to Narrow River and Cormorant Point.
Narragansett is one of the top spots for ocean swimming, and the water here is crystal clear and clean.
You'll often spot surfers in the water in the summertime.
This beach is also a popular spot for wildlife viewing, especially certain species of shorebirds.
The piping plover, a small sparrow sized shorebird, often makes its home here.
The town of Narragansett is in charge of maintaining this beach, which is why it stays so clean and welcoming.
No wonder up to 10,000 people often visit daily in the summer.
We're lucky to have this beautiful, pristine stretch of beach in Rhode Island.
