If there's one thing we have a lot of in Rhode Island, it's seafood restaurants. But they're certainly not all created equal – and plenty just use (gasp) frozen seafood. That is absolutely not the case at this amazing South Kingstown oyster bar – and if you go one place to eat in Rhode Island, you should make it this spot.
Over the last few years, Matunuck has gotten major media attention from all over the country. And why not? They have amazing seafood, and their signature oysters are raised literally off the porch.
You'll find several house oysters on offer, including the special Matunuck Oyster, raised right in Potter's Pond. You can even tour the oyster farm if you're interested!
You won't want to skip the raw bar at this spot - you've certainly never had fresher oysters, and they taste completely different than anything you've ever tried.
Their fresh, local bay scallops are similarly unlike anything you've ever tasted. They're absolutely indulgent, and perfect for a celebratory meal!
They have plenty of local seafood on offer besides oysters. Their Rhode Island Seafood Stew showcases the best of it, and it's absolutely scrumptious.
But don't assume that just because this spot focuses on oysters that they're above our favorite indulgent classics. Their fried clams are excellent.
You can find Matunuck Oyster Bar at 629 Succotash Rd., South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
