The Incredibly Unique Park That’s Right Here In Pittsburgh’s Own Backyard
Clear your schedule for a lovely summer drive. Journey a little over an hour and a half north of Pittsburgh where you'll be treated to stunning natural beauty, views of local wildlife, and a spectacular sunset at the end of the day. Visit this incredibly unique park near Pittsburgh for an unforgettable experience - and a surprise.
Pymatuning State Park promises everything you'd expect from a state park in Pennsylvania: Rich history, scores of local wildlife, soft sandy beaches, seven miles of hiking trails and...
Plenty of water activities - boating, fishing, and swimming - in Pymatuning Reservoir. The reservoir spans a stunning 17,088 acres while the park itself stretches 16,892 acres.
Snap photos of the adorable wildlife that calls the park home before heading to the Pymatuning Spillway, perhaps the most popular spot in the park.
Gaze out at the ducks and geese swimming in the shimmering water. Notice, however, that as they move closer to shore, they begin to walk.
So many carp travel to the Spillway for food that they form a floor, of sorts, that allows the ducks to walk on them.
Buy fish food at the concession stand. Only feed the fish pellets or small pieces of bread to ensure their well-being. Never feed popcorn, chips, or other treats you may have with you.
Snap photos of the eager carp as you drop pellets or bread into their waiting mouths.
Visit the Spillway at 12318 Hartstown Road, Linesville, PA 16424. While feeding the carp may be the highlight of your visit, you'll still have plenty to do so...
Pitch a tent. Park your RV. Or, rent a cabin at Linesville Campground or Jamestown Campground, both nestled within Pymatuning State Park.
Watch as the sky turns brilliant shades of red, orange, pink, and purple as the sun sets and before you snuggle up in your sleeping bag for the night.
