Enjoy A Long Walk At This Historic National Park In Pennsylvania

Sometimes we all need a reset and to focus on the moment, and there's (arguably) no better way to do that than with a long walk. Pennsylvania is known for its many hiking trails and walking paths, which makes finding an idyllic spot for our next adventure outdoors easy. Whether you're going solo, bringing the family, or strolling with your pooch, you'll quickly find there's no better way to spend a few hours than on this long walk in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

You don't have to be a history buff to enjoy the beautiful scenery (and a few history lessons) that sits along the Joseph Plumb Martin Trail at Valley Forge National Historical Park in King of Prussia.

Ample parking, including accessible spaces, is available at the parking lot just off of North Outer Line Road.

The predominately paved and flat path appeals to visitors of all ages and abilities. It's wheelchair-accessible, stroller-friendly, and welcomes leashed dogs.

Before you set off, be aware that there are a few steeper sections on the trail, which may cause challenges for those in wheelchairs or strollers.

Carve out around two hours for your long walk along this five-mile trail that can get quite busy. Be prepared to run into and share the trail with hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.

While there are some tree-lined portions of the trail, there isn't much shade along most of it. If you're out when it's sunny or during the summer, bring plenty of sunscreen and water.

The easy path passes plenty of lush green during the warmer months as well as...

Placards that help tell the story of Valley Forge, the winter encampment for the Continental Army in 1777-78 during the Revolutionary War.

The picturesque path is named for Joseph Plumb Martin, a private during the war who would later go on to publish a book based on his war experiences.

If you've got time, enjoy the walk. Stop for a breather on one of the benches, and consider bringing a picnic. There are several tables along the trail.
