The Heavener Runestone is one of the most visited tourist attractions in southeastern Oklahoma.
It's a 55-acre day-use park with a beautiful waterfall that flows freely below a rock formation and is surrounded by lush greenery. It's a small park that is loaded with mystery, scenic views, and nature trails.
There are two short trails in the park: Runestone Loop and Heavener Runestone Park Nature Trail - both of which are under a half-mile in length.
They are about as magical as it gets, offering amazing views of some of Oklahoma's most breathtaking park.
The moment you enter this fairy-tale spot, you'll be overtaken by the beauty that surrounds you.
It really does feel like something out of a storybook instead of a place in little old Okie. It's weird, but in an amazing way.
There are gorgeous rock bluffs in the park too that are beautifully positioned overhead.
The geology of the park is intriguing and well worth some admiration.
To hike to the waterfall, take the Runestone Loop - a 0.2-mile moderately trafficked loop trail that is rated as moderate.

The park is one of the most unusual sites in the southern U.S. due to some mysterious carvings on the side of the rocks on-site.
Although not proven, most people believe these carvings were left by the Vikings over 1,000 years ago. Nobody's really sure where they came from, but they sure are cool.
This place is so peaceful and you'll want to visit it as soon as possible.
